To be a part of the organization means to be a part of its culture. How people work and how things are being done do an extraordinary effect on the organizational activities. Employee’s relationships, substantial propositions and attitude are the parts of organizational work culture. In today’s fast changing world organizations have to arrange the organizational culture that it would be not only flexible, but also sensitive towards cultural differences. The members of the organization face cultural differences not only in their own society, but in other societies as well. During the past few years the differences between society cultures showed up, because more groups of people got to use political voice logistic right. People became more flexible for the requirement to accept the differences among races, gender, physical abilities, sexual orientation, and ethnic sameness. Since current organizations participate in the world economy, the members of the organizations must be sensitive towards different cultural attitudes which are faced while spreading the horizons behind the country borders. This work goal is to pay attention to the definition of the organizational culture, discover its operation and understand multicultural goals and problems associated with today’s organizations.
Organizational culture is:
• Corporation (G.Hofstede, 1980);
• Values and attitudes, which determine organization relationship with the environment (R.E Quinn, 1988);
• Broad, generally spread values (O. Reilly, 1983);
• Substantial values system, which guides the organization and which is admitted by organization members, does influence to their behavior and is sustained by the organization’s history, myth and is expressed via traditions, ceremonies, rituals and symbols (P. Juseviciene, 1996);
• The philosophy, ideology, values and norms accepted by the members of organization (D. Smirich, 1989);
• Dominated values displayed during stories or memories (T.J Peters, R.H. Waterman, 1983).
These organizational culture elements inform people about the best behavior and attitude the best for the company.
Every organization has its own culture. It can be called a particular type of behavior, which the group of people creates, elaborates, solves its integration problems. This type of behavior is considered to be good, when employees face the problems and know hove to solve them correctly.
Types of culture:
Clan. Very friendly place, where people are able to share everything with each other. Organization is similar to a big family. The leaders and managers of the company are like foster-parents. The values of tradition and loyalty connect all the organization members. There is a very high employee – organization commitment level. Organization long term benefit associate with good relationship among employees, their perfection and good morale. The success of the organization is related to sensitiveness for costumers and a good care of the employees. Natural form of activities is working in teams, participation and agreement.
Adhocracy. A very dynamic, creative organization, which values entrepreneur attributes. People are minded to take risks. Inherent leader’s characteristics are innovation and courage to risk. Experiments and innovations connect the members of the organization. Long term value is related to new resources assimilation and growth. The success is related to creating unique and new products and services. Members are trying to be leaders of products or services. Organization induces individual initiative and freedom. ...
